The teaching of B.K.S Iyengar is based on the extensive practice of asanas and pranayama, yogic breathing. Yoga postures are taught with emphasis on alignment and the use of props.
Asanas develop strength and flexibility.
They particularly relieve back pain and help the proper functioning of all organs. The postures also provide great relaxation. They chase stress, fatigue, creating the conditions for excellent relaxation and a peaceful mind.
Pranayama is the art of controlling the breath. It increases vitality and improves concentration and emotional stability.
No special provision is necessary to indulge in yoga, only the regularity of the practice opens the door to progress!
